so i joined a gym. i have never been to a gym. gyms are a bit scary. but this gym is not too scary. my first time i walked around and tried a bunch of different things. my goal was to make my muscles cry. in this drawing my arm muscles are crying and my belly is taunting me, but i am still triumphant.

july 25, 2019 - tough week
it's been a difficult week. so much so that i just noticed this drawing and the last two say "june" when they are actually july. i've been having trouble keeping track of what day it is, and i guess also the month....
july 10, 2019 - thanks for confirming
my salesguy bill is the miniboss of the project managers at my regular job - he has a mustache, see? one day he decided to give us reviews. i'm pretty great.
july 6-7, 2019 - lopez island
took the ferry up to lopez island to dine at my friends' incredible restaurant, ursa minor. we ate many delicious things and the boy bought a bottle of wine.
the next day we go on a hike and see trees and... is that an island? yes, i believe that is a tiny island with floaty water bits in front of it. on the beach we find a nice selection of rocks as well as a wizard penis. later we happen upon a dragon tree! trust me, it looks much scarier in real life. then we get home late and i am so, so tired driving home it is difficult to stay awake and i am thankful we didn't crash and die.
june 28-29 - two amazing gigs
omg omg omg - it's jeff lynne's elo at the tacoma dome and it was sooooo gooood. that's jeff lynne playing guitar (with lines to indicate amazing guitar playing action). i'm on the bottom left with a smile so big it doesn't fit my face and i forgot to draw hair, but who needs hair when there's an amazing jeff lynne's elo show happening?
um, top image is about how cruel the universe can be. then there's the amtrak carrying the boy and me to portland to see cayucas, who look oddly similar (because they are twins).

june 19-23 - new york!!!
erm... four drawings for this post because new york was so fun...
this is, quite obviously, the boy and me flying to new york. clearly a plane on the left, x marks seattle where we left, and x marks what can only be new york city on the right, because that's the statue of liberty. in which hand does she hold the torch i wonder....
a red-eye flight makes very sleepy people and we weren't able to check into the hotel early. after a good nap we went to see sleep no more, which is freaking amazing. that rectangle with horizontal lines is the mckittrick hotel, where the play is held, and that's us on the right running up and down stairs chasing after actors. and that's a mask floating over my head, but actually we wore them on our faces.
walked to central park and had a horse carriage ride, then to the american museum of natural history where we saw baby t rexes and neil degrasse tyson told us a story about the dark universe while massaging our tired feets. later we headed back to the mckittrick hotel to see speakeasy magick - MAGIC IS REAL I AM NOT KIDDING.
on our last day we took the subway (see us trotting downstairs to the subway) to queens to visit yoseka stationery where we both bought sweet new pens. the boy's pen is a bit sweeter than mine because it came in a fancy box and has beautiful pen cap removal/replacement action. then we went to see sleep no more again because it's amazing and why not? that's macbeth hanging dead (spoiler alert: macbeth dies at the end of the play) and we're running and chasing actors again. oops - almost forgot the mask, but see it there below the actor. it has eyes and a pointy snout.
june 16, 2019 - teatro zinzanni
this was one of my favorite nights - the boy and i went to teatro zinzanni and had an amazing time. the boy was chosen to go on stage and he handled it quite well. my favorite actor, chef caesar, was in the show and there he is wearing a cape loooooking at someone. i don't actually remember all the things that are happening here: there's the stage, and something about your new name, chef, and then the boy and i being giddy. ah, and then i think that's me collapsing at the bottom after a good evening.
june 8, 2019 - the derelicts + flipper show
i took the boy to a punk rock show, two of my favorite bands from when i was a youngster. bands did not disappoint. see how happy we are cuddle dancing?
june 6, 2019 - sometimes mixing ink is hard
hey look i'm doing these again. it's been a few years... this is me trying to mix the proper blue ink color. looks like i ran out of time because it's time to go home.
